The Fianarantsoa-Côte Est (FCE) railway is a colonial-built railway in southeast Madagascar that connects the high plateau city of Fianarantsoa to the port-city of Manakara. It is 163 kilometers long but takes between 12-24 hours. Built in 1926 the cars are ancient but the journey is romantic and well worth it as it passes thru spectacular countryside, going thru 48 tunnels and over 67 bridges.
